Catrina, Nick & Seb — One Year In

Words by Jade Akintola Photos by Brandon Thomas Brown

Q: What did this first year with Seb feel like?

A: A mix of everything—fast, full, and constantly changing. It went by quickly, but somehow also feels like we’ve known him forever.

Q: What’s Seb like right now?

A: Curious, always moving, and very expressive. He’s discovering everything, and you can see it in how he reacts to the smallest things.

Q: What has surprised you most about becoming parents?

A: How natural it’s felt over time. The adjustment is real, but so is the rhythm you eventually find together.

Q: What do you find yourselves appreciating more these days?

A: The small moments. Being at home, spending time together, watching Seb grow into himself day by day.

Q: How would you describe your dynamic as a family now?

A: More grounded. More in sync. We’re learning as we go, but it feels like we’re building something solid.

Q: What does this one-year milestone mean to you?

A: It’s a moment to pause and take it in. A reminder of how much has changed—and how much more is still ahead.
